Terry has a passion for nursing and loves being an instructor. Her goal as an instructor is to instill in students the love she has for nursing, so they will see the value in what they are studying. Terry鈥檚 educational preparation began at Bob Jones University where she graduated with a BS in English Education. She received her MSN with honors from Drexel University majoring in Nursing Innovations. This major suited her perfectly because she thinks that if nurses want to be on the cutting edge of health care, they must utilize their critical thinking skills and think outside the box.
Terry鈥檚 over thirty years of nursing experience has been in a variety of fields. She started as a nurse in a community acute care hospital in labor & delivery (L&D). From there she went into pharmaceutical sales and detailed oral contraceptives in the Philadelphia territory. Since she loves the city, she went back to a level 1 trauma hospital in Philadelphia and worked in labor & delivery again. Eventually, she found her way to the emergency room (ER) in the same hospital. She has always had a heart for vulnerable populations, so in 1993 she started her own Nurse- Managed Community Health Center. This was a health care clinic in a medically underserved area, and she had a physician and two nurse practitioners working for her. She could not stay away from front line acute care nursing and returned to work as a travel nurse in L& D and the ER. She finally settled down and took a staff nurse position in another level 1 trauma hospital in the post anesthesia care unit. She went into nursing education full time in 2017. Prior to that she had taught different classes, but it was not in a full-time capacity. She still works as a nurse at the bedside.
